We have had many excited inquiries for our Milestone workshop! Hooray!!
However, the word on the street is that life is busy these days and more advanced notice is needed, who knew? apparently not yours truly.
So, in effort to meet the needs of our eager future students, we have decided to reschedule the workshop to a later date. We feel that this decision is in the best interest of the participatory potential of Tina's Kitchen floor, after all, it's not going anywhere.

The new date will be posted here on Monday, and we promise that this time, we will give you adequate time to make plans in advance.

Working shops

The decision has been made. It is official that myself along with fellow milestoner Tina Randolph will be welcoming you all into her home to participate in an on-site Milestone workshop. Hooray!

For this first workshop we will be applying the Milestone to Tina's Kitchen Floor. To make it more interesting, and to show off our real talent, we will be incorporating a checker board pattern into the design. It is a small area and we will be able to complete it in two short days.

The workshop will take place on March 28th and 29th. Because of the limited space this will be a hands-off workshop, viewing participation only. Therefore, there is no need to bring anything other than yourself. We will show you how to mix colors, mix the "mix" and how to apply the Milestone to the floor, (which is currently torn up), in a beautifying way. We will also be providing you with information on exactly what Milestone consist of and the various ways in which it can be applied.

Tina's place is in Georgetown, so please take that into consideration when you are making your plans. The workshop will start at 10a.m. both Saturday and Sunday and you can expect for it to last between 4-5 hours each day (hard to say exactly until we get started).

We are asking for a contribution of $50 per person for this thorough tutorial on the process of this extremely versatile material. We will have some snacks for munching but feel free to bring something to eat if you want. It will be a casual and fun experience so we hope you are excited to join us. Please phone either of us to reserve your spot or you can simply make a comment to this post. There will be notations on the sidebar with all the vital information in the coming days. Encaustic Class update- My encaustic class is still in preparation mode. I found that with April nearing it is hard to land a date that does not conflict with other happenings on the schedule. Please stay tuned for more information regarding those plans. Thanks!

Year 31...in the making

Not being able to sleep at night... pure torture.
So, I decided to take a break from the struggle and fulfill some of this creative outreach that apparently I'm needing.
I have been working on a new piece at the studio and am really excited to get passed my initial thought processes and into the fun stage, creation. My mind can really over-complicate sometimes....uh, okay...most of the time.
To detour myself from becoming a cocoon of thought, I've been reverting to the things that may come a little easier and have decided to plan another Encaustic workshop at my studio in the coming month (maybe even weeks)!!!
The blazing torches, multi-layered textures, and the sweet smell of beeswax shall soon return to be shared with anyone who may be interested.
This go around I plan to go into greater depth with the preparation, materials, processes and more technical information. I'm still ironing out the details of restocking all my supplies, but I plan to have a date set in about a week.

So, these are pictures documented at our last craftorama, aka. crafternoon delight, aka. craftacular party,... etc etc etc.
A large group of wild women (my friends) have been gathering on a monthly-ish basis for these wonderful "craft" parties. Each event has been voluntarily held at lucky members living room, studio, basement, or bedroom, and a new craft is taught and experimented with.
The event I sponsored was a full night of Encaustic painting, and if that was not enough, we added a music swap to the mix. It was waxxy madness.
(strangely I don't have any pictures of the finished works...have to work on that)
